A luxurious, soft feel. Easily cleanable, especially for pet hair. Often inexpensive, in a variety of charming colors. And beautiful for every season. Velvet has it all.
As I have cats, most furniture finishes I now choose are velvet, because I’ve learned from experience that it’s cozy, durable, and super easy to clean. Plus, I love the feel of it.
Velvet is NOT corduroy, chenille, boucle, or microfiber, all of which are more difficult to clean and not as soft. And I absolutely won’t buy anything with tufting on the seat—it’s uncomfortable and gathers debris.
Below are a variety of furniture covers, sectionals and sofas, and chairs and that offer the cozy velvet touch. I’ve winnowed down the plethora of options so you don’t have to!
Covers
I’m going to start with covers, which are perfect if you want the soft touch and look of velvet or wish to change the look of your pieces, but don’t want to spend much.
Guyirt crushed velvet stretch club chair slipcover
These crushed velvet slipcovers fit perfectly over small barrel chairs and are lovely, especially for the price. They’re light reflecting, and I had a hard time choosing from the four colors offered, but went with the luxe silver grey for my bedroom chair set.
H. Versailtex velvet plush three piece stretch sofa/loveseat covers
When I bought these soft velvet slipcovers in stone blue, they gave my older living room sofa and loveseat new life, and then when those got a bit tattered after four years, I bought them in sea grass. The colors are beautiful and affordable; the covers come in a wide variety of configurations (be sure to measure your furniture) and are fairly easy to remove and wash. My couch looks exactly like the one pictured with them on. I highly recommend.
Couches
As you’d expect, I’m picky about furniture—it has to be just right. In sofas, I strongly prefer one bench cushion or two-cushion seats to three-cushion options for a more vintage, streamlined look with fewer seams, plus comfort.
Cassidy 78” recessed arm sofa by Poshbin Currently 9% off.
This is a fairly custom option, as you can choose from at least five velvet colors as well as many other fabrics, and six different leg wood colors. Very nice.
Charmeka 79” sleeper sofa by George Oliver Currently 9% off.
Coming in at under $200, this retro looking sleeper sofa can do double duty as a guest bed. I love it in the blush pink.
Currie 84.5” tufted sofa by Noble House
This option has pretty vertical channel tufting and sleek lines, and comes in vivid dark blackberry and wine velvet colors for dark academia décor.
Evianna 79.5” rolled arm sofa by Rosdorf Park
This pretty, smaller chesterfield option with two round pillows gives dark academia or perhaps bluestocking vibes.
Haahris 69'' tuxedo arm chesterfield sofa by Everly Quinn
This smaller and much less expensive chesterfield option has great style in pink velvet, one of five choices.
Harbor 88” sofa by Wade Logan Currently 17% off.
I love the look of this streamlined, classic silhouette in fawn velvet.
Jerfit 77" modern sofa
This one comes in only a silver grey velvet, but the arms are a classy sloped shape.
Kent 58” loveseat by Container Furniture Direct
This is the loveseat I had on my list but didn’t purchase because it doesn’t fold out into a sleeper, but it’s a great option for a small, inexpensive velvet couch. It comes in six colors; I love the rose and greenish yellow.
Knightsville 70” sleeper sofa by Latitude Run Currently 7% off.
In a similar pink shade but at a higher price point than the Kent and rated more highly, this sleeper sofa has a classic look for any décor style and is slightly smaller to sleep guests in an apartment or an office.
Knox 84" modern farmhouse sofa by Jennifer Taylor Home
The same farmhouse style as the matching chair below, I like this simple couch in an unusual neutral burnt orange as one of the four velvet color choices.
Madeline 90” sofa by Rowe Furniture Currently 23-26% off depending on color.
I have to include this pricier but larger 90” option because the silhouette and brass velvet color are to die for. It also comes in pretty slate and sage colors in a separate listing. I were going to absolutely splurge on a sofa, it may be this one, which I fell in love with last year. I love the timeless style that reads Victorian dark academia, and its simple, elegant, no cushion lines.
Marick round arms 56” loveseat or 72” sofa by Everly Quinn Currently 12-21% off depending on color.
Suitable for a variety of décors, these lovely pieces come in just two colors of velvet for the sofa (out of stock in all others) and 12 colors for the loveseat. I love the army green, burgundy, ginger, and rose shades.
Midcentury modern 77” sleeper sofa by Best Choice Products
This is more a futon than a sofa and is fairly firm, but I love the gold color (no longer available) and I have it in my office for seating and an extra sleeping spot. It was very easy to assemble, even with cat assistance. Currently offered in two velvets.
Onbrill 82” Chesterfield Sofa Currently $25 off by checking coupon box.
This deep seated larger classic chesterfield sofa invites one to languish and read the Brontes in a gorgeous classic style, at a low price. I love the green and taupe. I don’t love the fake button detailing on the front, but our heroes are always flawed.
Pasadena 75.5" modern farmhouse sofa by Jennifer Taylor Home
This one also matches the chair in the same line listed below, and comes in three pretty colors.
Pinsolid 82” modern sofa
This cute traditionally styled sofa comes in two velvet colors at a very low price.
Resolute 100.5” curved sofa by Modway
I don’t love any of its three colors, but the art deco period lines of this large sofa are impeccable for anyone seeking this look.
Scarlett Glam 72” flared arm three-seater sofa with channel tufting by Home Design
Glam indeed. This stylish sofa comes in four velvet choices and with four throw pillows. It has deep arms, which may not work for those of us who are shorter, but it’s pretty in pink. The vertical channel tufting offers period style interest.
Walters 78” tight back sofa and Walters 82 inch sofa by Birch Lane
A perfect silhouette for cottageore décor, these two sofas come in many colors but just four velvet options. The beautiful Bella Toast and Cocoa colors are my favorites.
Wiilayok 114" U-shaped sectional modular four-seat sofa
This is a really affordable sectional option in a few colors. Some fabrics are listed as chenille and some velvet, but with a close up, they all look like velvet. I like the emerald green and light pink.
Chairs
Alana Lawson accent armchair by Jennifer Taylor Home Currently 9% off.
And chaise lounge
These both offer a pretty, traditional shape perfect for cottagecore, with deep seats—and I always love a chaise for putting feet up.
Andeworld accent chair with ottoman Currently $20 off by checking coupon box.
This is a stylish chair and ottoman set, a bit more art deco in style with gold legs, in six colors.
Andeworld side accent chair Currently $20 off by checking coupon box.
A slightly wider version of the above chair, this one does not come with an ottoman.
Arlette retro midcentury accent chair by Safavieh
This cute little chair is in an unusual velvet color, hazelwood. I’ve been delighted with anything I’ve ever purchased from this brand.
Barrel accent chair by Alden Design
We love the design and space flexibility of a little barrel chair, and this one comes in at barely $100. Another option is listed below, but this brand offers a few different colors.
Cavett barrel chair by US Pride
Here’s a really pretty art deco flower shape option with gold legs for the bedroom—I love the rose hue.
Doarnin contemporary tufted button back accent chair by Roundhill Furniture
This small accent chair has a nice shape. I love the subtle mauve and chocolate shades.
Eldridge accent chair with clear legs by Weston Home
The clear legs and sleek lines of this chair make it an unusually lovely option, and the gold color is a rare actual champagne gold rather than yellowy gold. It’s beautiful—but at a higher price point.
Gloriann accent chair by Ashley
A sleek option with clear acrylic legs, this features crushed velvet (rare) in three colors.
Gus lounge chair and matching sectional by Poly & Bark (from different retailers) I love this larger retro looking chair and sectional, both in distressed velvet olive green, with nearly perfect reviews.
Katherine chair by Jennifer Taylor Home
Beautiful feminine shape in gold velvet.
Linsy barrel accent chair with ottoman Currently 21% off.
This incredibly inexpensive, cute barrel chair offers a bonus ottoman, in olive green (and in four other colors) to tuck into a corner.
Midcentury modern club accent chair by Chairus
This traditional club chair comes in green and blue at a great price. It’s more cottagecore than midecentury.
Mira swivel accent chair by Better Homes & Gardens
I’ve been obsessed with the shape of this chair for awhile now, but it’s too large for the space I had. Someday my pretty, you will be mine. I love all three velvet options, and you can get it in a set of two. This Buttercup swivel chair by Modway in emerald is similar, but at a higher price and in just one color.
Modern accent chair with tufted back by Giantex
The tufted back on this one is an unusual art deco design element, and it comes in three pretty velvet colors.
Modern accent chair by Hawsaiy
This small, feminine art deco style accent chair would be perfect for a bedroom and comes in four velvets.
Pasadena 36" modern farmhouse accent armchair by Jennifer Taylor Home
Matching the Pasadena couch listed above, this rustic, comfortable looking chair comes in three colors and has a perfect 5.0 rating.
Swoop arm accent chair by HomePop
Here’s those stylish swoop arms again, adding a bit of interest. I like the green velvet shade, of course, and it’s half off the other colors.
Yaheetech barrel club chair Currently 25% off.
I have a set of these in my bedroom and they’re so cute and comfortable. Plus, when the cats beat them up, there are covers available (see covers section above). It’s currently offered in three velvet colors, and can be purchased as a set of two.
Yaheetech flower vanity chair Currently 12% off.
This is a pretty little velvet chair in six colors for the bedroom, office, or other small spots.
Custom
This article cannot fully detail the multitude of custom velvet furniture options, but if you want to pay more to get exactly what you want, custom can be a good choice for sectionals, sofas, loveseats, and chairs. While many lean a bit more modern in style, each offers some options with clean lines that can fit into any décor.

More modern in style, but its generous plushness can fit many décors. Examples include the Abisko 91" sofa, 42.5” wide chair, or 94.5” sectional in yarrow gold velvet, all with a luxurious look. The Matrix 30.5" lounge chair comes in a lovely yarrow gold and pacific blue velvet plus two other colors. The Landry 84.5” sofa and the Riley 118.5” sectional and 84” sofa all offer a uniquely colored hale rust velvet hue, which is also available on other sofa, chair, and sectional options. I also like the Vati 92” sofa in hale fir green velvet. Some pieces offer storage or sleeper options as well.
Burrow Currently 25% off modular furniture.
Burrow offers velvet options in three colors in its Nomad line of sectionals, sofas, loveseats, and chairs.

My first choice for custom furniture, this retailer sends out swatches—which really provides a feel of the luxurious fabrics offered—and offers custom design help to ensure customers get what they want. This James two-seat sleeper sofa, for example, could work in almost any room and comes in a mind-boggling 49 colors of velvet, perfect for those looking for an exact shade and who are picky about color like I am. Nearly all the colors are stunning and in those hard-to-exactly-name natural hues I love. This Caitlin sofa by The Everygirl and Fiona sofa both have lovely lines and a single bench cushion (no cushion splits). The Saylor slope arm loveseat also has pretty lines and an unusual shape. The length and depth of pieces are customizable.
Joybird Currently up to 35% off bestsellers and 30% sitewide.
Favorite picks are the Lewis 108” sectional and sofa, the Bryant chair and a half, the Miller sleeper sofa, and the cute and stylish Brooks twin sleeper sofa, all available in 18 velvet shades. My favorites are Royale Forest, Royale Sand, Banks Oatmeal, Banks Zinnia, and Royale in Pantone 17-1230 Mocha Mousse.
West Elm
This retailer offers a large selection of my favorite bench style sofas (one cushion as the seat) in a range of velvets. I like the Andes sofa, available in a range of widths, depths, finishes and an amazing 60 velvets. And I fell in love with the Parlor sofa, perfect for cottagecore décor.
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoy the soft touch of velvet somewhere in your home.
